Looking for a family-friendly activity during the spring holidays?
Our Spring Tours are ideal for children and adults alike, combining education, fresh air, and unforgettable animal encounters. Located in Clackmannanshire, Solsgirth Home Farm is an easy countryside escape for families travelling from Dunfermline, Kinross, Perth, Stirling and Falkirk.
Spring is one of the most exciting times of year on the farm, and there’s no better way to experience it than in person during lambing season. As the countryside bursts into life, our fields and sheds fill with newborn lambs, fluffy chicks and ducklings, and calves, creating unforgettable moments for visitors of all ages.

A Warm Welcome to Solsgirth Home Farm
Your visit begins with a warm farm-style welcome. On arrival, guests can enjoy tea or coffee (or juice for children) alongside a hot filled roll, giving you time to relax, meet your guide, and take in the atmosphere before the tour begins.
From there, it’s time to step into the heart of the farm and experience the daily rhythms of a working agricultural environment.
Hands-On Spring Farm Experiences
Our Spring Tours are designed to be interactive, engaging, and educational. During your visit, you may have the opportunity to:
Help feed and bed down our animals
Meet and hold fluffy chicks and ducklings
Tour the cow shed and learn about dairy and beef farming
Meet our dairy goats and their goat kids
Observe ewes and lambs in the fields as they bond and grow
If we’re lucky, spot our playful piglets
Enjoy a guided walk around the farm, keeping an eye out for wildlife
Depending on circumstances, there may also be the chance to help with bottle-feeding orphaned lambs. While we always aim to provide memorable hands-on experiences, specific activities such as lamb feeding or witnessing a birth cannot be guaranteed, as farm life follows natural and unpredictable rhythms.

What Is Lambing Season?
Lambing season is the time when ewes give birth to their lambs, usually during early spring. It’s one of the busiest periods on the farm, requiring careful monitoring and round-the-clock care to ensure the health and wellbeing of both mothers and newborns.
Visitors will learn about the lambing process, see young lambs taking their first steps, and gain insight into the vital role farmers play in caring for animals and producing food.
What to Wear & Important Visitor Information
As an active working farm, we recommend wearing sturdy, closed-toe footwear such as wellies or boots, along with weather-appropriate clothing. While much of the tour takes place indoors, you will be moving between sheds and outdoor areas.
For health and safety reasons, this experience is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant, thinks they may be pregnant, or is trying, due to the hands-on nature of the tour and the associated risk of infection.
Please also note:
The farm environment may contain allergens such as hay, animal dander, and pollen
Heavy machinery may be operating on-site
In the event of inclement weather, outdoor elements of the tour may be adjusted for safety
Guests are asked to follow their guide’s instructions around animals at all times
Book Your Spring Farm Tour
Spring is a short and special season on the farm, and our tours are extremely popular. Spaces are limited, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
