What's On
The itinerary for our Open Farm Sunday offers a variety of activities to enjoy across the farm. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a family looking for a wholesome outing, or simply curious about farming, there's something for everyone:
Sheep Shearing: Witness the skillful shearing of sheep, a traditional craft that highlights the connection between farmers and their animals. See different techniques and learn why this tough task must be done.
Farm Tour: Embark on a guided tour of the farm, where you'll learn about the land, the livestock raised, and the conservation efforts in place to protect the environment.
Tour times to be confirmed.
Clydesdales Carriage Rides: Enjoy a short carriage ride with majestic Clydesdales, offering a charming look back at traditional farming life. Rides provided by Keystone Clydesdales – Donations Per Ride.
Tractors: From the giant, eye-catching tractors that work our farm every day to traditional vintage tractors, photo opportunities will be available with the vintage tractors.
Animals: Meet friendly donkeys, curious dairy goats (you might even get the chance to milk one!), and see chicks and ducklings at our hatching station. Take a stroll down the track and you’ll even find our resident emus keeping an eye on the visitors.
Dairy Demonstration: Try your hand at milking “Valerie”, the RHET milk demonstration cow. A hands-on, child-friendly model that gives a fun and educational glimpse into the life of a dairy farmer.

LEAF and Why We Do It
LEAF Open Farm Sunday isn't just a day out; it's a commitment to fostering understanding and appreciation for sustainable agriculture. By opening their doors, farmers aim to connect with their communities, showcasing the importance of farming in maintaining our landscapes, supporting biodiversity, and producing nutritious food.
We believe it’s essential to educate the next generation about where their food comes from and the importance of farming as part of Scotland’s heritage. Education lies at the heart of everything we do, reflecting our commitment to inspiring a deeper connection with the land and its produce.
Our Third Open Farm Day
As we celebrate opening our gate to our third Open Farm Sunday, we reflect on the growing success of this event. Each year, more farms join the initiative, welcoming visitors eager to learn and engage with rural life. This expanding participation not only enriches the experience for visitors but also strengthens the bond between farmers and their communities.
Whether you're just beginning your journey into agritourism or still thinking about taking the leap, we warmly encourage you to take part in Open Farm Sunday. It's a fantastic opportunity to share your passion for farming and help build public appreciation for modern agriculture.
This initiative is a great way to highlight the hard work, dedication, and sustainable practices at the heart of farming today, with free resources and children’s activity booklets available to support your event.
