Two bedrooms

The Dower House at Solsgirth Home Farm is a luxury home on a country estate, sleeping up to four guests. The house is located on the ground floor with its own private garden. There is plenty of room for families or groups to spread out indoors and out, and your complementary Farm Tour around the working farm will give you an introduction to our rhea, emu and llama, traditional pigs, cattle and sheep breeds. A short drive away are fantastic walks in the hills or along the coast, with several Scottish cities within one hour’s drive.

A Dower House on a country estate was traditionally intended for the widow of the estate owner to move into when the next generation took over the estate.

Our Dower House certainly exudes that vibe, with high ceilings, quirky features and plush curtains, while modern double glazing, central heating and a wood burner make for a luxurious cosy stay. The main living area combines an elegant kitchen, dining area with a large table and comfy sofas.

All on the ground floor, there are two en-suite double bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a super king-size bed (can be split into twin beds), plus fitted wardrobes and the en-suite features a large walk in rain shower. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed with an unusual shaped bath in the en-suite and overhead shower.

Outside you'll find plenty of parking space, a secluded garden with hot tub and amazing views to the Ochils.

Visitors also have direct access to the shared laundry room with washing machine and tumbler dryer.

STAYING AT SOLSGIRTH

Set in beautiful countryside, overlooked by the Ochil Hills, Solsgirth Home Farm is the perfect location for a holiday.

Choose from our large Farmhouse, the cosy Farm Cottage or Butler’s Flat, the elegant Dower House and the historic Coachman’s Lodge. Mix and match properties for larger groups to enjoy time away together.

The local area has some beautiful walking routes, including Dollar Glen, within a few minutes of Solsgirth Home Farm, with the Lomond Hills in Fife around 40 minutes drive away.  You can access coastal walking along the Firth of Forth within 20 minutes, and take in sections of the 185km long Fife Coastal Path, passing the historic village of Culross and quaint fishing villages in what is known as the East Neuk.

We are surrounded by history, with the strategic positioning of Stirling and the River Forth has led to historic battles being fought on our doorstep. In every direction you will find castles and palaces, stately homes and their beautiful gardens, owned by Historic Scotland, the National Trust for Scotland and some privately owned but open to visitors.

The central part of Scotland includes many family visitor attractions, including the RSPB reserve at Loch Leven and Blair Drummond Safari Park. Recent developments alongside the Forth and Clyde Canal include The Helix ecopark, with the majestic Kelpies, the world's largest equine sculptures at the centre. Further long the canal is The Falkirk Wheel, the world’s first and only rotating boat lift – walk alongside it, journey through by boat or try out one of a range of watersports and activities available.

Golf fans will find themselves only 30 minutes from the world-famous Gleneagles, and an hour from the renowned St Andrews Old Course, with many others in between where you can arrange a game. And whisky lovers can discover Scotland’s national drink for themselves with many distilleries open to visit for tours and tastings.

Stirling Castle

Solsgirth Home Farm is located just outside the village of Dollar, and we are perfectly located for visiting several Scottish cities, with Stirling only 30 minutes away, and the cities of Perth, Glasgow, Dundee and Edinburgh all within one hour’s drive.

Our local city, Stirling, has plenty to visit, including its Castle and the Wallace Monument, which both offer amazing views of the surrounding area. Another small local city is Perth which blends combines its ancient roots and historical past with independent shopping and lovely river and park walks.

The UK’s only UNESCO City of Design, Dundee is home to V&A Dundee, RSS Discovery, McManus Galleries, and the Beano characters of Dennis the Menace and Desperate Dan.

For bigger cities visits, choose between Glasgow’s striking architecture, contemporary art spaces and fascinating museums (many of which are free), or the festival city of Edinburgh with its medieval Old Town, Royal Mile and Castle, as well as the Scottish Parliament and Dynamic Earth visitor attraction.
